Situated on the outskirts of the cosmopolitan hub of Ibiza Town lies El Carnicero, a charming restaurant with a magical garden area that belies its central location. El Carnicero translates as The Butcher, the name a tribute to the premium meats the beautiful eatery serves up. Whether you are looking for a relaxed haven to enjoy a mouth-watering meal with your nearest and dearest, an enchanting space for a romantic dinner or a quality venue with plenty of eye-catching detail to entertain business contacts, El Carnicero is a gem that should most definitely be on your culinary radar.

Founded in 2013 in Milan, Italy, the brand quickly established itself as a foodie destination – particularly for meat lovers – with a second branch in the city following soon after. And since its arrival on the White Isle, El Carnicero has been wowing diners with its simple but tasty menu and plenty of character. Wandering into the spacious garden area, it’s impossible not to marvel at the many imaginative design features; from the flowering plants and olive trees that turn the restaurant into an urban oasis to the vibrant cushions, low-hanging orb lights and eye-catching outdoor bar tiled in colourful print patterns.

An illuminated water feature, huge mirrors artfully displayed throughout the garden and two tables with tall chairs provide an unusual and quirky seating option. Overlooking this Alice In Wonderland style display and shrouded by the roof of the authentic Spanish building that houses El Carnicero, you will find a breezy terrace dining space filled with vintage peacock chairs and dramatic lighting. Meanwhile, the indoor rooms ooze rustic charm and Mediterranean authenticity. A children’s area complete with a blackboard wall, fairytale wall murals and plenty of toys keeps little ones entertained.

Amongst the culinary delights that await, a ham carving station offers the finest juicy cuts of Jamon Iberico, while a cigar cabinet boasts a selection of fine tobacco. The cocktail menu tempts with classics such as the delightfully bitter Negroni or the exotic and zesty Pisco Sour. Highly recommended from El Carnicero’s divine meat offering is the restaurant’s beef carpaccio ‘El Carnicero’ which fades from a rosy pink in its centre to a dark brown on the edges of each tender slice. Meanwhile the cecina, thinly sliced, smoke-dried slithers of meat, wow with a rich aroma and delicate consistency. El Carnicero’s delicious pasties, reminiscent of the traditional Cornish variety and filled with either meat, poultry or corn and cheese, are another tasty starter option.

Boasting a varied selection of different cuts of the finest grilled beef, pork and chicken, El Carnicero’s menu is a veritable feast for meat lovers. From spicy sausages and aromatic chorizo to tender vacio steak, juicy ribs with a delightful fatty crust and rich, flavoursome skirt steak, each cut is prepared to perfection and bursts with aroma. In the dessert section, those with a sweet tooth will find plenty of delicious options like creamy cheesecake topped with sweet red berry sauce or a luxurious hot chocolate coolant. Watch out for special live music events, when Spanish artists such as island-favourite guitar maestro Paco Fernandez and his flamenco show complete this quintessentially Mediterranean dining experience.
