As the global consciousness regarding pollution in general and the damage plastic rubbish causes to our oceans and wildlife grows, local organisation Love Ibiza Now has teamed up with Atzaro Beach in Cala Nova to start the season as they mean to go on. On Saturday, March 10th, eco-conscious island lovers and those who want to learn more about protecting nature are invited to a beach clean-up followed by great food and entertainment.
Starting at 11.00 with a rubbish collecting expedition along the coastline and on the golden sands of the beautiful Cala Nova beach, the day continuous with a talk on plastic awareness to educate island residents and Ibiza visitors on how they can help to protect the beautiful Balearic island. Meanwhile, Atzaro Beach will be looking after the participants’ culinary needs with a paella show-cooking demonstration and an invitation to polish off the huge pans of fresh rice and seafood.
Sprawled across the rocky cliffs that overlook the sparkling sea in this particularly beautiful spot on the island, the elegant seaside restaurant offers the perfect space to address an issue that has become a red-hot topic over the last few years. This isn’t the first beach clean-up organised by Love Ibiza Now, an organisation that aims to protect the island’s nature and local culture, as well as promoting ecological and sustainable solutions, but it certainly comes at a great time following the announcement that the Balearic government is planning to ban single use plastic products by 2020.
The environmentally conscious afternoon continues with kids entertainment and music, with Cajas Viejas bringing their infectious and uplifting sound to the event from 13.00 by mixing the finest disco, funk and soul electronica. The day will be a great opportunity for the White Isle community to socialise and join forces to protect the magical island they all call home. See you on the beach!
