Nestled in the secluded Salinas National Park is Casa Munich, a tranquil oasis with beautiful gardens and amazing amenities where you can escape the madness of the island. This year, the chic boutique hotel has paid its wellness area some serious TLC, extending it with brand new treatment areas as well as an outdoor relaxation area – making it the perfect place to indulge in some pampering this summer.
Even if you’re not a hotel guest at Casa Munich, a small fee will grant you access to all the fitness and spa facilities, including three idyllic swimming pools, a sports area, a bistro restaurant, complementary bicycle rental and, of course, the brand new wellness facilities. After an intense few months of hard work in the Icon office, we decided to treat ourselves to some much needed restoration and to recharge our batteries to tackle the rest of the high season.
We started with a leisurely coffee in the poolside bistro before strolling up to the treatment rooms, having booked ourselves in a rejuvenating facial. Overlooking another glittering swimming pull, the dreamy spa amenities are every inch the luxe Pinterest offering you’d expect from a spa on the White Isle, all chic greys and neutrals with warm metallics. Working with high quality and renowned products from Decleor and Ligne St Bath, the experienced team is on hand to find the right treatment and products for your needs.
My beauty consultant Natalia deemed my skin in serious need of hydration, and thus decided to pamper me with a rehydrating Watch Out After Sun facial using the beautiful, tropical products from Ligne St Barth. To start, she used a gentle cleansing milk, followed by a passionfruit scented peeling mask – which, she expertly informed us, is much more delicate than other similar products and would therefore not irritate even the most of parched of complexions.
After she’d taken that off, she applied another mask – this time a buttery, rich cream mask with passionfruit extract, which she informed me would calm my complexion and balance out my skintone to get rid of any redness in the skin. Once the mask had worked its magic, Natalia removed it with a warm towel and applied a refreshing, melon-infused extract which would tighten up the pores. To finish, she treat me to a dreamy face massage using a mango scented moisturising cream. After the blissful treatment was over, I looked in the mirror to discover a healthy, even skin tone and a radiant shimmer to my skin.
Thanking Natalia for her amazing work, I went back to peruse the rest of the spacious and beautiful Casa Munich. The most difficult decision we faced for the rest of the day was whether to indulge in a bit of retail therapy in Casa Munich’s boutique, relax on one of the poolside daybeds or go for a blow-dry before a night on the tiles. In the end, we opted for all three! If you’re looking for somewhere to wile away the hours on much-needed R&R, Casa Munich really is the place to go for a full day of pampering.
