For many people, Ibiza is all about sunshine, glitz and partying – and all this and more could be experienced first-hand at the recent Ibiza Fashion Festival 2018, hosted at the fun and glamorous new Wi-Ki-Woo Hotel. It has been a busy week for the trendy property, which opened its doors in San Antonio on the 7th of June to bring a touch of art deco style to Caló des Moro bay.
Tony Truman, well-known owner of many Ibiza venues including Ocean Beach Club and Itaca, returned from a trip to Beverly Hills with a vision of creating a fun boutique hotel offering stylish but affordable accommodation with an abundance of poolside glamour. Together with his lifelong friend, Gordon Taylor, he turned this vision into a reality.
The pastel pinks, greens and geometric patterns that mark the décor of Wi-Ki-Woo are an Instagrammer’s dream. Within easy reach of the heart of San Antonio’s vibrant centre, yet far from the hustle and bustle of holidaymaker crowds, this adults-only hotel is an ideal place to rest up or start the preparations for your big night out. San Antonio’s world-famous sunsets can be enjoyed in the comfort of your room, the well-stocked hotel bar or the restaurant with its panoramic sea views.
Brimming with a sense for fun and frolics, Wi-Ki-Woo made for the perfect location to host the recent Ibiza Fashion Festival. The three-day event celebrated both beachy daytime chic and evening glamour with a variety of stalls and catwalk presentations. Guests enjoyed a steady flow of chilled fizz courtesy of Gigglewater, a playfully branded new prosecco, which sponsored the event. Swimwear, beach dresses and stylish accessories were seen strutting up and down the runway, with covetable accessories including cool shades by Capsized, sexy body glitter designs by The Gypsy Shrine and unique jewellery by Caroline Azzi.
The event was a great opportunity for local designers such as Ibiza Bikinis to showcase their stunning summer 2018 collection. Supporting homegrown businesses is important to the island and events like Ibiza Fashion Festival give independent businesses a place to shine. On the subject of shine, we had the pleasure of meeting Glammy, the talented lady who has created Glammy Glitter. Her customised hats caused a sensation on the catwalk with many admirers keen to try them on for size. Having transformed our wardrobes, we are now ready to hit every beach party this summer, so thank you to Ibiza Fashion Festival and Wi-Ki-Woo for having us!
