We don’t know about you, but during the cold, dark winter months we are often plagued by flashbacks of our glorious Ibicencan summer memories, which leave us pining for our return to the White Isle. And one that is frequently amongst them is a romantic night spent feasting on delicious Japanese fare in Nagai Restaurant Ibiza’s magical gardens, toasting the occasion with sake cocktails and soaking up the inimitable atmosphere.
Those coming to Ibiza in the spring – or residents lucky enough to live on the island year-round – are one step closer to revisiting this wonderful culinary destination as Nagai has announced its opening date for the 15th of March 2018. Fresh after winning the impressive accolade of Best Japanese Cuisine in Southern Europe in the World Luxury Restaurant Awards 2017, the gourmet destination will be welcoming guests from 19.30 until midnight.
Ibiza foodies who have already dined at Nagai will need no further reminder to get their reservations in, but if you haven’t experienced the delicious food and charming ambience yet, don’t go another summer without enjoying a meal here. Located at the heart of the island in the beautiful Ibicencan countryside, the restaurant fuses understated chic fused with rustic elements and Japanese art, and an evening dining underneath the stars on Nagai’s atmospheric garden terrace makes for an unforgettable culinary moment.
Sip on one of the expertly crafted creations from the Sake Cocktails and Nagai Spiced Cocktails selection, for example a floral Rose Lemongrass or the wasabi-spiced Tokio Bloody Mary. And while we are sure that the menu will have been updated for the new season to a degree, last year our favourites included the delicate sea bream carpaccio topped with Kalamata olives and ponzu vinegraitte, served on a bed of crunchy zucchini noodles, two-textured chicken gyozas and the Chicken Katsu bowl. Sushi lovers will swoon over the Crispy Salmon roll, which combines a creamy filling with a crunchy tempura batter on the outside, and the Negitoro tuna belly roll made with fresh spring onion and black caviar.
Finish your meal with one of the delightful desserts or an exploration of the carefully curated sake menu and stay for a little chat with the Nagai team, headed up by Reina, Eleanora and Melchior, who are always happy to share their recommendations and the many fascinating stories and experiences that have shaped the restaurant and its award-winning gastronomic offering.
